At Cotton & Blue Denim (CNBD), your satisfaction is our priority. We stand behind the quality of our premium Australian-designed denim and want you to love every purchase. This policy outlines your rights and our process for returns and refunds.
Australian Consumer Law Rights
Under Australian Consumer Law (ACL), you have guaranteed consumer rights. If your product is:
- Faulty or defective
- Not as described
- Not fit for purpose
- Unsafe
You are entitled to a repair, replacement, or refund at no cost to you. These rights cannot be excluded and apply regardless of our change-of-mind policy.
30-Day Return Window
We offer a 30-day return period from the date you receive your order for both faulty items and change-of-mind returns.
Faulty or Defective Items
Your Rights
If your item arrives faulty, defective, damaged, or not as described, we will:
- Provide a full refund (including original shipping costs)
- Offer a replacement item
- Arrange a repair (where appropriate)
Return Process for Faulty Items
- Contact us within 30 days of receiving your order at [your contact email]
- Provide your order number and photos of the fault/defect
- We will provide a prepaid return label (Australia Post)
- Return the item in its current condition (worn/washed items accepted for genuine faults)
- Refund processed within 5-7 business days of receiving the returned item
Shipping Costs
CNBD covers all return shipping costs for faulty items. We will provide a prepaid Australia Post return label.
Change of Mind Returns
Eligibility
We accept change-of-mind returns within 30 days of delivery, provided items meet the conditions below.
Conditions for Change of Mind Returns
Items must be:
- Unworn, unwashed, and unused
- In original condition with all tags and labels attached
- In original packaging (where applicable)
- Free from perfume, deodorant, makeup, or other marks
Non-Returnable Items
For hygiene and safety reasons, the following items cannot be returned for change of mind:
- Underwear and intimate apparel
- Earrings and pierced jewelry
- Cosmetics and beauty products
- Sale/clearance items marked "Final Sale"
- Gift cards
- Personalized or customized items
Return Process for Change of Mind
- Initiate your return within 30 days by contacting contact@cnbd.com.au
- Provide your order number and reason for return
- We will provide return instructions and our return address
- Customer is responsible for return shipping costs
- Items must be sent via trackable shipping method (we recommend Australia Post with tracking)
- Refund processed within 5-7 business days of receiving and inspecting the returned item
Refund Details
- Original purchase price will be refunded to your original payment method
- Original shipping costs are not refunded for change-of-mind returns
- If you used a discount code, the refund will reflect the discounted price paid
How to Initiate a Return
Step 1: Email us at contact@cnbd.com.au with:
- Order number
- Item(s) you wish to return
- Reason for return (faulty or change of mind)
- Photos (if faulty/damaged)
Step 2: Wait for our return authorization and instructions
Step 3: Pack items securely with all original tags/packaging
Step 4: Ship the return (we provide prepaid label for faulty items; customer arranges shipping for change of mind)
Step 5: Receive confirmation and refund within 5-7 business days of our receipt
Refund Processing
Timeframe
Refunds are processed within 5-7 business days after we receive and inspect your returned item.
Refund Method
Refunds are issued to the original payment method used at checkout:
- Credit/Debit Card: 5-10 business days (depending on your bank)
- PayPal: 3-5 business days
- Other methods: As per payment provider's processing time
What's Refunded
For Faulty Items:
- Full product price
- Original shipping costs
- Return shipping costs (via prepaid label)
For Change of Mind:
- Product price only
- Original shipping costs NOT refunded
- Customer pays return shipping
Exchanges
We currently do not offer direct exchanges. If you need a different size or color:
- Return your original item for a refund (following the process above)
- Place a new order for the item you want
This ensures you receive your preferred item as quickly as possible.
International Returns
Faulty Items
International customers with faulty items should contact us immediately. We will assess the issue and provide:
- A full refund (including shipping), or
- Return shipping reimbursement up to the original shipping cost paid
Change of Mind
International customers are responsible for:
- All return shipping costs
- Any customs duties or fees incurred on the return
We recommend using a trackable shipping method i.e Auspost tracking. CNBD is not responsible for items lost in return transit.
Damaged in Transit
If your order arrives damaged due to shipping:
- Do not refuse the package - accept delivery and inspect immediately
- Take photos of the damaged packaging and product
- Contact us within 48 hours at contact@cnbd.com.au
- We will arrange a replacement or full refund at no cost to you
Lost or Stolen Packages
Australia: If your tracking shows "delivered" but you haven't received your order, contact us within 7 days. We will investigate with Australia Post.
International: Please contact us within 14 days if your order hasn't arrived. We will assist with lodging a claim.
Incorrect Items Received
If you receive the wrong item:
- Contact us immediately at contact@cnbd.com.au
- Provide photos of the item received
- We will send the correct item and provide a prepaid return label for the incorrect item
- No cost to you
Refund Denials
We reserve the right to refuse a refund if:
- Items are returned after 30 days
- Items show signs of wear, washing, or use (for change-of-mind returns)
- Tags or labels have been removed (for change-of-mind returns)
- Items are damaged due to misuse or neglect
- Non-returnable items are returned without valid fault
If a return is refused, we will contact you to arrange return of the item at your expense.
